He started his musical career as the vocalist of Eruption – a death metal band he had formed by himself in 1988 at the age of 14. After this band ended in 1990, he went on to join Opeth in the capacity of a bassist, at the insistence of David Isberg. Not only that, he has worked with several bands as vocalist and lead guitarist. The list of bands include several death metal bands like Blood Bath (former lead vocalist), Sorskogen (vocalist, guitarist), Steel (guitarist). He also collaborates with Steve Wilson for Storm Corrosion.
