Much like the rest of music listeners who heard Nicki Minaj‘s Queen track “Barbie Dreams,” we got a kick at all of Nicki’s punchlines and playful digs at her rap and hip-hop contemporaries. 50 Cent took the song in stride, and it looks like Quavo of Migos is also in on the joke at his expense.
“Yeah I laughed, it was funny,” he told Hot 97’s Nessa during a recent interview on Monday (Aug. 27) when asked about the roast.
The line in question on “Barbie Dreams” brings up Quavo‘s former relationship with Karrueche Tran, who was linked to the rapper last year. Rumors swirled that Minaj and Quavo were an item when they were spotted together at Coachella earlier this year.
“Somebody go and make sure Karrueche okay though/I heard she think I’m tryna’ give the coochie to Quavo,” Minaj spits.
“I guess I’m surprised as the rest of y’all,” Quavo continues. “I heard the album before it dropped, but I ain’t hear that record. But yeah she dope, the album was fire.”
“I only mentioned people in #BarbieDreams that I f*k with,” wrote Nicki on Twitter after the album was released. “This isn’t a diss. Yikes. This is culture, this is BIGGIE!!!!! New York!!!! This is FUN. Light hearted fun FUN.”
All in good fun. Listen to his comments around the 4:20 mark.
